Twilight After Midnight

Twilight After Midnight is the second movement of Kennith’s Twilight Series, painted as a companion to Twilight Before Dawn. Where the earlier work captured the rising blue of a new day, this piece descends into its mirror — the still, charged hour after midnight when the world is at its most quiet and most luminous at the same time. Mica-suspended grays catch ambient light and shift across the canvas like cloud cover; pools of deep indigo and graphite create a sense of weight and depth.

Punctuating that hush are quick coral drip lines and small bursts of jewel pigment — citrine, amethyst, a flash of teal — placed like distant taillights or scattered embers on dark water. Kennith works the mica with bare hands and a wide blade, leaving traces of motion that catch the eye sideways. The painting holds best on a deep, quiet wall where the metallic ground can do its work: a bedroom, a reading corner, a study where the light is low and the air is still.
