Nebula Dream

Nebula Dream began on a clear winter night in the high desert outside Palm Springs, when the Milky Way arched directly overhead like a river of light. Kennith Maitland spent hours watching the slow drift of the stars, captivated by the idea that what we call empty space is actually full — full of dust, gas, gravity, and history.

Back in his studio, he poured the first layer of cobalt and turquoise resin and began the slow work of placing fragments of obsidian and crushed iridescent glass one by one across the surface. Each piece catches and holds the light differently, the way no two stars in the night sky burn at the same temperature or hue. The result is a painting that seems to breathe — a small portion of the cosmos brought close enough to touch.
